ST. CLAIRSVILLE – East Ohio Regional Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center will be hosting the fifth anniversary celebration of Pink Power Night on Oct. 3 at the Ohio Valley Mall.

At this event each year, OVMC and EORH honor the “Pink Angels” in the community who have been nominated for doing so much to help others. Honorees often have battled breast cancer courageously or have worked to improve women’s health.

The evening begins with a special pampering event for all Pink Angel honorees and is being sponsored by Macy’s. The “Pink Party” will include mocktails, gifts and pampering stations for angels to enjoy. Pink Power Night for the public kicks off at 5 p.m. in the Center Court area with time to visit and explore the Giant Inflatable Breast display provided by the Tina Kiser Cancer Concern Coalition from Cambridge, Ohio.

OVMC nurses will be available to provide education on signs and symptoms of breast cancer or any abnormalities. At 5:30 p.m. all can visit tables with information on breast cancer, stress management, music therapy, safety and other health information. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to win prizes and enjoy refreshments. Mall stores such as Macy’s will have information on proper bra fitting, Pat Catans is providing a craft and a giveaway, and Ulta and Christopher and Banks are also participating.

The Pink Angel honorees will be introduced during a program set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will first hear a few words from the OVMC Cancer Center staff.

According to Breezie Ogilbee, cancer center manager, “Everyone in our organization plays a part in the great care we give our patients and we hope that you can come out to meet some of them at Pink Power Night. From the volunteers who greet them at the door, to the mammography tech who performs the mammograms, and on to our cancer navigators who walk the journey with each patient after their diagnosis, it is evident how much they care. Our surgeons and medical oncologists at OVMC are a huge part of this team approach and how we work together in the best interest of all our patients.”

Pink Power Night was started five years ago by Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital in an effort to provide women with a free regular event that would inform, educate and entertain. It has become widely successful with a regular following month after month. Pre-registration is requested but not required. To make a reservation or to get more information about this event, contact Mary Velez, marketing manager, at 304-234-8643 or mvelez@ovrh.org.
