Residents are invited to bring most old household junk, appliances, fixtures, furniture, lawn furniture and equipment, riding and climbing toys, carpeting, car batteries, household batteries, foam packing, mirrors, dishes, glassware, plastic buckets, trash cans, etc. All loose items should be boxed or bagged to help process everyone through the line in a timely manner.

Tire recycling is provided for standard size car and light truck tires only. No semi-truck, agricultural or industrial equipment tires. Tires are required to be free of heavy accumulations of water or dirt as this can seriously damage tire shredding equipment.

Due to a significant rise is the cost of recycling older electronics, there will be a $10 cash fee required for all CRT televisions and monitors (recognized by the large protruding back on the item), as well as, projection televisions and console televisions. Recycling of computers, cell phones, printers, key boards, game consoles, VCR/DVD players, flat screen televisions and monitors, electronic wiring and accessories are provided at no cost. Participants are requested to keep television and monitor glass screens intact.

The following items will not be accepted at cleanup events: mattress, box springs, paints, liquids, fluorescent tubes, ballasts, or other hazardous waste materials. Watch the JB Green Team website for the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection dates and locations.

Other items not accepted at the community collections include: diapers, food waste, leaves, tree or grass cuttings, construction and demolition materials including insulation, bricks and cement blocks.

The JB Green Team reserves the right to refuse unacceptable items and items that create a health or safety hazard for collection workers. Window glass should be boxed or the edges taped.

Community cleanups take place during the national Keep America Beautiful — Great American Cleanup. If you are interested in cleaning a road or other location, contact the JB Green Team for trash bags and a T-shirt. The collected litter can be brought to the Community Cleanups for proper disposal.
