Hearts for Hurricane Victims fundraiser set

BETHESDA — The Epworth Center, in partnership with Real Life Community of Faith, will host a fundraiser to benefit the many hurricane victims who are still in need of assistance.

Months after the devastation of a hurricane occurred, people are still homeless, roads are still ripped to shreds and people’s lives are still turned upside down. Some have lost loved ones, and others are out of work because businesses were also destroyed.

The Epworth Center is a viable United Methodist Mission Center during the summer months, assisting many of its “neighbors” within a one-hour radius of the facility. Thanks to many volunteers, the center is able to build porches, handicap access ramps, paint houses, perform yard cleanup and much more.

This winter, Real Life Community of Faith members suggested the center continue reaching out in mission by doing its best to raise funds and assist people in devastated areas during a season when members are unable to do so at home.

“We invite you to visit our facility Saturday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2-6 p.m. for a free-will offering lasagna dinner as you enjoy various entertainers and fellowship upstairs followed by shopping at our Vendor/Craft Sale on the lower level of our lodge,” organizers said.

All proceeds will go to the United Methodist Committee on Relief, designated specifically to Hurricane Relief Efforts.

“Please join us as we all make a difference in other people’s lives,” the organizers added.
