Executive Director Barb Ballint presented Thompson with a plaque that states: “In recognizing 26 years of dedicated service, believing that the promotion of Tourism and Economic Development of Belmont County is of prime importance.” Ballint expressed the board’s appreciation of Thompson’s time served on the board.

“Richard has been very active in his community and Belmont County,” Ballint said. “He has served on many boards, volunteering his time for the betterment of this area. He gave this organization the best gift anyone could give, his time.”

Thompson addressed the board, thanking the members for the recognition. He said when he was informed that he was no longer going to be on the tourism board and realized he had served 26 years as a member, he thought it was time to retire.
