Sally Buffalo Days on tap in Cadiz

CADIZ — The annual Sally Buffalo Days, set Sept. 15-16, is slated to be held in and around Wallace Lodge in Sally Buffalo Park.

Featuring food, vendors, free activities and entertainment, crafts and numerous other activities, the weekend will have a little something for everyone, according to organizers.

A pancake breakfast will kick off both days from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the lodge. Hosted by the Cadiz Lions Club, a love offering will be accepted.

Events on Sept. 15 will include family activities from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. hosted by the Harrison Central Alumni Association. Activities will include square-bale jumping, pumpkin painting, toss game, yard twister, sack races, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, giant Jenga and a photo booth.

The first Little Miss Sally Contest will be held at the main stage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the princess will then reign over the weekend’s activities.

Beginning at 11 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m, the Puskarich Public Library will host a variety of kid’s games at the log school house in front of Wallace Lodge.

Also, a beer garden is planned behind the lodge from 11 a.m until 8 p.m. Sausage sandwiches will be offered. These event are being hosted by the Cadiz American Legion Post 34.

The Harrison Central Alumni Association will host a kayak race on the lake from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. To register, visit www.hcaluminiassocation.com.

In addition, the alumni association will sponsor a Capture the Flag event beginning at 7 p.m. Registration for this event may also be made at www.hcalumniniassociaiton.com.

Stage entertainment for Sept. 15 will include:

∫ 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Kick N Click Cloggers.

∫ 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Family entertainment and skits.

∫ 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Lost Memories.

∫ 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Pocket Change.

Sunday’s activities will include a poker run sponsored by the Harrison Community Hospital Auxiliary. Registration beings at 10 a.m. For information, contact Jerry Cochran at (740) 582-0015.

Beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding at 1 p.m., the alumni association will be sponsoring a chili cook-off. All area chili experts are encouraged to participate and may register at www.hcalumninassociation.com.

The alumni organization will hold the family activities on Sept. 16. Donations will be accepted both days to help defray the costs associated with the activities.

The seventh-annual Cadiz Lions Club Car Show will run from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sept. 16. To be held behind Wallace Lodge, the event draws a large crowd. The first 50 participants will earn dash plaques. Awards will be presented in three categories: Judges choice, people’s choice and farthest driven. The Harrison County Cancer Crusaders will hold a fund-raising Paint N Sip in the lodge from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. that day. For more information or to register, contact Julie McPeak at (740) 491-2407.

The annual Harrison Central Track Team 5K Walk-Run will start at 2 p.m. on Sept. 16 in front of the lodge. Pre-registration (and to ensure a race T-shirt) may be made by sending check in the amount of $20 to Harrison Central Track Team c/o Luke Turner, 440 East Market St., Cadiz OH 43907. Registration the day of the race is available and will begin at noon. A kid’s 100-meter dash for those age 10 and under will be held at 1:45 p.m. Cost is $5 per child.

Afternoon stage entertainment on Sept. 16 is as follows:

∫ 1:30 p.m.: Cody Barcroft.

∫ 2:45 p.m.: Ashley Best.

∫ 4 p.m.: Lost Memories.

Throughout both days, a business expo and craft show will be held.

In addition, food and drink vendors will be selling their goods throughout the venue both days.

The two-day event is organized by the Cadiz Lions Club, Sally Buffalo Park, Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison Central Alumni and Harrison County Chamber of Commerce.
