Shadyside salon opens second location

SHADYSIDE — A 23-year-old Shadyside salon owner recently opened a second location.

Bre Lappert is now the proud owner of two hair salons in Shadyside. Bre’s Hometown Hair with Flair opened earlier this year, while Bre’s Hair with Flair celebrated its one-year anniversary on July 1.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for both locations on June 29. The event included face painting, a retail sale and snacks, Lappert said. There were around 40 people in attendance between both locations.

“I am very thankful. It was a good turnout,” Lappert said.

Lappert’s parents, Mike and Missy Lappert, are a considerable help to her and her businesses.

“I couldn’t do it without them,” she said.

Bre and Missy attended cosmetology school at Elite Academy in Bellaire. Bre was the school’s first graduating student.

Upon graduation, Bre began working for Amy DeFelice at Hot Locks Hair Designers in February 2016. By July 1, 2018, she had taken over ownership and renamed the salon Bre’s Hair with Flair. Her mother, Missy, is the store’s manager. Her father, Mike, is also a tremendous help to the salon, Bre said.

“My mom is the manager and my dad is my backbone. If something is broken, he is my go-to. It’s very helpful,” she added.

The salon owner never planned on owning two salons in such a short amount of time.

“I was very content with my one salon and things were going amazing, being a new business owner six months in. … The only answer I have for how my second salon, Home Town Hair which is now named Bre’s Hometown Hair with Flair, became mine was that God wanted me to have it. It literally just fell into my lap and I couldn’t be more thankful for that,” Bre said.

“I owe all of the credit of where I am today, being 23 and owning two businesses to my parents, because I honestly couldn’t do any of it without them. They are the best support system that I could ever imagine having and have been right there every single step of the way for me,” Bre said. “I would also like to thank Gayle Wesley for everything that she taught me during my schooling at the Elite Academy and for teaching me that you can do anything that you set your mind to.”

The two salons offer hair and nail services. The new location is larger and offers additional services including eyelash extensions and body waxing, Lappert said.

“This (Bre’s Hometown Hair with Flair) is more of a full service salon,” she added. “I never dreamed that I would be where I am today with two salons and 10 employees.”

Bre’s Hair with Flair is located at 3776 Central Ave. and Bre’s Hometown Hair with Flair is located at 3882 Central Ave. in Shadyside. Both salons are now open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
