UL getting new auditorium seats

New and returning students will also notice a change in seating in the middle school auditorium. The chairs are in the process of being replaced with cushioned seats purchased from Harrison Hills City School District. Union Local Superintendent Ben Porter said the chairs were purchased at auction for about $15,000. The district began moving the old chairs this week. To goal is to have all the 400 middle section chairs replaced by the first day of school, Aug. 21. The administration will then look into replacing the rows of chairs on either side, about 200. Porter said the old chairs would likely be recycled for wood and metal, or possibly auctioned. Board Member Shaun Roe, left, Treasurer Janet Hissrich and husband Mark Hissrich look over the auditorium.
