MORRISTOWN — The Union Local Band Boosters will be holding a steak fry fundraiser this weekend. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Wise horticultural building at the Belmont County Fairground. This event will have no shortage of prizes thanks to the generosity of multiple donors.

Raffle tickets will be available to purchase for items such as a 55-inch flat screen television, chainsaw, trimmer, a certificate for a 9-mm handgun, WVU football tickets and parking pass, custom painted corn bag toss board, and many more.

“We are hoping this will be a great fundraiser for us to continue each year,” Band Director April Linard said. “The boosters work extremely hard to help support the band and this event is no different. Not only is our goal for it to be a huge success but also an event were we can all come together and have a good time.”

In addition to the support of the Band Boosters, the Union Local administration and board members have been very supportive of Linard and the band program.

“Without the support of the administration and school board we would not be able to accomplish as much as we do,” she said. “The band room looks extremely different than now than it did when I arrived 14 years ago. We have replaced instruments and added other equipment that we didn’t have before. The success of this program relies on the support of the custodians, bus drivers, staff, administration, parents, community…everyone. If we didn’t have that support, we wouldn’t be able to show others how amazing Union Local really is.”
