ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Interim HealthCare of St. Clairsville and Astoria Place of Barnesville are combining forces in a joint effort to show local senior citizens how much they are appreciated throughout the community.

These have been tough times with the COVID-19 pandemic, and officials at the health centers say many seniors have been feeling very isolated.

So, the two organizations have partnered with Jack’s Snacks Ice Cream Truck to provide free frozen treats to residents in several local senior living facilities and apartment complexes.

The frozen treat selections are individually wrapped to help ensure the safety of the seniors. Social distancing and protective measures were observed by staff and residents.

“Both of our businesses deal daily with providing care to senior citizens, and we consider it a privilege to care for them,” said Karen Craig, director of Business Development for Interim HealthCare.

Cindy Bisbocci, director of Business Development from Astoria Place of Barnesville, added, “This is our way of saying thanks and to recognize the importance seniors play throughout the community.”

The two businesses will be traveling around the area with Jack Elerick, owner of Jack’s Snacks Ice Cream Truck in St. Clairsville.

“Mr. Elerick has been so receptive in working with our agencies to be a vital part of these visits,” the centers said in a news release. “He has an amazing ice cream truck that you will hear going about the local communities.”
