Cumberland Fire District gets COVID donation

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The city of St. Clairsville made a donation to the Cumberland Trail Fire District last week, when Mayor Kathryn Thalman presented a check for $50,000 to Chief Tim Hall and Assistant Chief Dan Grady.

This donation was approved by St. Clairsville City Council in a unanimous vote at its Nov. 16 meeting. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act funding regulations allowed the city to subgrant a portion of its funds to other government organizations — including fire districts — to cover COVID-necessary expenses.

Thalman commended Hall and the fire department employees.

“These brave individuals daily enhance the safety and well-being of our community. We greatly appreciate their service and sacrifice. I’m pleased the city can aid in their protection during this difficult time,” she said.

Thalman reminds residents to continue to follow COVID-related safety protocols during the holidays to help halt the spread of the virus in the community.
