Lou Holtz Life Improvement Scholarship Program deadline set

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio — Deadline for submitting applications for seniors in designated high schools to be eligible for inclusion in the Lou Holtz Life Improvement Scholarship Program for continuing their education at a two-year vocational school has been set at March 27 for consideration in 2021-22.

Now in its 22nd year, 10 annual scholarships of $5,000 in each of the two years is funded by Coach Lou Holtz and his late wife, Beth, and are payable at confirmed enrollment by the chosen institution.

Selection is made after consideration of applications and accompanying essays.

Partnerships between the program and New Castle School of Trade — East Liverpool Campus, Ohio Valley College of Technology and Pittsburgh Technical College enhance scholarship amounts by matching each of the $5,000 awarded annually, which can amount to $20,000 overall.

Graduating seniors from the following high schools are eligible to apply:

In Ohio — East Liverpool, American Spirit Academy, Beaver Local, Bridgeport, Buckeye Local, Buckeye on Line School for Success, Edison Local, Indian Creek, Martins Ferry, Quaker Digital Academy, Southern Local, Steubenville, Steubenville Catholic Central, Toronto and Wellsville;

In Pennsylvania — Lincoln Park Performing Arts, Midland PA Cyber; and

In West Virginia — Brooke, Oak Glen, Weirton, Weirton Madonna, Wheeling, Wheeling Catholic Central.

Applications are available from guidance counselors at each school or online.
