GLENCOE — For the second year in a row, OVDJ is setting out to provide the vibes for Belmont County with its Summerfest event on Saturday.
Event organizer and performer Louie “Louie the XIII” Balk said that he plans on Saturday’s event being the biggest party in the Ohio Valley area.
“We’re going to be bringing in multiple DJs, a fire crew, not just fire performers alone, we’re gonna have aerial artists, fire jugglers, fire breathers and fire throwers,” Balk said, joking that the event will be “extremely lit.”
“We’re gonna have all sorts of vendors coming out. Little Annie’s Sweets will be bringing a cotton candy machine, popcorn and all other kinds of goodies. Ryan Butler will also be vending the event serving food throughout the event,” Balk said. “He’s one of the best chefs in the whole area. His food is absolutely delicious. If your palate hasn’t tasted what he’s cooking, then you’re missing out on life because the dude knows what is up. And he is a true, genuine soul, too, and he’s a good human being.”
He added that he believes he is blessed to have Butler on board for Saturday’s festival. Untamed Flames are some of the fire performers that will be appearing along with Lady J and Ollie.
The festival will also see various musical artists performing throughout the day and night.
The lineup will include: Chasing Rabbits, Loose Bean, TriiipGod, Howes Party, Louie The XIII, Heresherlullaby David Dennis, Mixer Sis Amy Balk, Energy With Erica, Bopsloth, Slim Petty and Kiiiiyaani Sri Nitai Dasa.
Balk gave a special shout out to Sub Aquatics for bringing in a video wall that will be behind the artists as well as the speakers to provide the sound.
“It’s gonna sound amazing. I think we are roughly gonna have about 40,000 watts of bass and 10-foot video wall. It’s gonna be a big production, and the lineup is stacked. I’m so blessed to be here with my friends and family and my wife, and I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful time to be celebrating life, and I’m blessed to be here,” Balk said.
The event takes place at 63279 Tar Run Road, Jacobsburg, with doors opening at 11 a.m. and music being from 3 p.m. until 2 a.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door.
Balk added that in compliance with the Belmont County Board of Health’s new regulation that requires a temporary mass gathering lasting longer than six hours and has over 200 people in attendance to apply for a permit to hold the gathering, the event will be considered sold out after 200 tickets are purchased.
He added that he will be raising money for the victims of recent flash flooding in the Wheeling area.
“Big or small, we’re going to try and make a difference for the people that have had their lives literally devastated by this flood,” Balk said. “We are doing a 50/50 where the winner gets half and the other half is going to go to the organization that we’re going to choose. We’re also going to do a raffle with the profits going to go to flood victims. We’re also going to have a donation pile where people can contribute. And if you would like to bring any type of good food, canned item, anything like that, to donate, we will be able to house it here and get it to the people in need. It would be highly appreciated.”
He added that despite the devastating events that have taken place in the community, he’s striving to provide some positivity to the Ohio Valley.
“There’s nothing more important in my eyes than to see people helping other people out, and if we can facilitate an area for that, that is my purpose,” he said.
