BARNESVILLE — Cowboy Bowl is a new restaurant coming to Barnesville and is fixing to provide a unique spin on the typical restaurant experience.

Cowboy Bowl is the brainchild of owner and operator Charley Lucas, who is an interior designer.

Lucas is aiming to curate a place that will fuse her two loves of interior design and cuisine.

Unlike most restaurants, Lucas said that all of the furniture in the store will be for sale, so customers will be able to sit at their table to enjoy their food then, if they desire, buy the table they just ate at for their house.

“People can sit down on the furniture and enjoy their meal,” Lucas said. “I want it to be a place to go and hang out, because I don’t feel like that’s here right now. It’s about the vibes, good music, good food, and good atmosphere.”

She then explained her vision to be similar to Cracker Barrel as far as a restaurant where patrons can shop, but said Cowboy Bowl will be different because all of the tables, chairs, and decor in the restaurant will be for sale.

“All of the furniture is going to be antique furniture that I’ve thrifted or that I’ve found that’s been donated,” she said. “It’ll all be cleaned, obviously, very well, but just not your typical restaurant with the tables and chairs and booths, because I wanted to give it a more comfortable, relaxed vibe, just like you, just like when you’re eating at home.”

Lucas said that her inspiration comes from her unique experiences from her time she lived in both London and Paris.

“I’ve eaten a lot of good food and I’m a foodie big time,” she said. “I’m just inspired by giving the community a great place to eat, a great place to hang out, and to work on your laptop, and hang out with your friends.”

She plans to cover all of the upholstery with a restaurant quality protection spray or may cover them up. She said that a lot of the upholstery is real leather, and said that real leather is easy to clean.

Lucas added that she and her husband D.J. Lucas own and run their own ranch from where all of the fruits and vegetables from the restaurant will be sourced. She said she is in discussions with a few different local businesses to source all of the restaurant’s meat, but plans to ensure it stays local.

“The idea of Cowboy Bowl came from my husband working on the construction site and me working on the ranch,” she said. “And coming home at night and getting everything out of your fridge or everything out of the garden, putting it in a bowl, heating it up in the microwave, and that’s a cowboy bowl.”

Although the menu isn’t finalized, Lucas plans to have a wide variety of items serving both lunch and dinner. She said they will be offering a cowboy bowl and cowgirl bowl, which will be steak or chicken, rice, corn, and yum yum sauce.

“Just kind of all the good fixings that you might get at Chipotle or Subway, but a little bit more home cooked, a little bit more home style,” Lucas said. “There’ll also be a sushi roll, which is going to be called cowboy sushi, and it’s going to be avocado wrapped in rice wrapped in a piece of steak. It’s really good.”

She added that she plans to serve chicken meatballs wrapped in bacon that will also be on the cowboy sushi plate.

Cowboy Bowl is located at 112 E Church St. and is set to open on September 13.

Lucas said that she plans on opening for lunch and dinner but if the customer base calls for it being open for breakfast she isn’t against doing so.

She added that hours aren’t officially set yet but is roughly planning to be open from noon until 10 p.m.

She added that, for anybody with donations of old glassware items, she will be accepting any items that would work with her vision.

“Donate them here instead of Goodwill, because they’ll get used,” Lucas said.
