These events are canceled or postponed due to COVID-19

OHIO

∫ Gov. Mike DeWine ordered Ohio schools closed for three weeks beginning at the end of the day Monday. The order runs through Friday, April 3 and applies to all K-12 schools, public and private, but not preschools or daycares.

∫ Ohio University Eastern has postponed the “Celebrate Women 2020” event planned for March 19. It will be rescheduled.

∫ The Ohio Valley Egg Hunt in St. Clairsville is canceled. Anyone who wishes to have their money refunded should email info@ovegghunt.com with your first and last name. If you do not email within 14 days, the money from ticket sales will be donated to A Special Wish Ohio Valley.

∫ The Belmont County Tourism Council has canceled the March 23 GAP Grant check presentation. The group will instead mail checks to 44 nonprofit recipients.

∫ The St. Clairsville AARP 2994 meeting set for March 26 at the Rec Center has been canceled.

∫ The Steubenville Art Association Show slated for April 18-May 2 has been canceled.

∫ The Buckeye Local Board of Education regular meeting scheduled for Monday has been canceled.

∫ St. Clairsville City Council will hold its meeting that was scheduled for Monday at 7:30 p.m. March 23 in the municipal building instead.

WEST VIRGINIA

∫ The annual Festival of Nations in Weirton has been canceled.

∫ Wheeling Hospital has temporarily suspended seminars, symposiums, support groups, community education and outreach events at its facilities.

∫ Bethany College has canceled its sixth annual Ann Trombadore Women and Leadership Weekend set for March 20-21. The college intends to bring back the event in 2021.

∫ West Liberty University has canceled the Hughes Lecture for March 26.

∫ The Seeing Hand Association in Wheeling is stopping its exercise, share group and bowling until May 1.

∫ West Virginia University’s TEDxWVU event, “Say it Loud,” has been postponed indefinitely.

∫ The Wheeling Human Rights Commission meeting scheduled for noon on March 17 has been canceled.

∫ The Invisible Patient sessions at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, and at First Christian Church, Wheeling, have been canceled.

∫ The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce’s March Business After Hours scheduled for March 19 at Ruttenbucks Bar & Grill has been canceled.

∫ West Liberty University has canceled the Annual Florida Alumni Chapter Reunion planned for March 27-29 in Daytona Beach.

∫ West Liberty’s Community University, which meets at The Highlands Center campus, is canceled.

∫ All visits to the Congregation of St. Joseph’s center in Wheeling are currently restricted because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Anyone who has an urgent or specific need to visit is asked to call the center at 304-232-8160 before doing so.

∫ Vineyard Church service, scheduled for today at Capitol Theatre, is canceled. Service will be available online only.

∫ Crittenton Services’ Paint the Town, set for March 21, is postponed until further notice.

∫ The Celebrate National Quilting Day slated to be held at the Pro Bull Riders event March 21 at WesBanco Arena has been canceled.

∫ All Country Friends Foundation Inc. events have been canceled for the remainder of March.

∫ The ECHL, the league where the Wheeling Nailers play, has suspended its hockey season.

∫ Oglebay Institute has decided to cancel all public events, performances, classes and workshops through April 4 at all its facilities — The Stifel Fine Arts Center, School of Dance, Towngate Theatre, Schrader Environmental Education Center, Mansion Museum and Glass Museum. At this time, spring classes and all other programs are set to resume the week of April 5.

UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES THAT HAVE MOVED CLASSES ONLINE

∫ Ohio University Eastern has moved all classes to an online format beginning March 23 following an extended spring break.

∫ Franciscan University of Steubenville will convert classes to an online format no later than March 23

∫ Eastern Gateway Community College announced there will be no classes at the college’s Steubenville and Youngstown campuses Monday and Tuesday, following this week’s spring break, so administrators and faculty can decide which on-campus courses may continue online.

∫ Belmont College will extend its spring break by a week and then transition to online/remote learning on March 23.

∫ Wheeling University will move all instruction to online beginning March 16.

∫ Bethany College will extend its spring break through March 20 and resume March 23 with online classes until further notice.

∫ West Liberty University is extending spring break for in-person classes through March 20. All online classes will proceed as originally scheduled.

∫ West Virginia University canceled classes for the week of March 23 and will move all classes to online or alternate learning options on March 30.

∫ Franciscan University of Steubenville will convert classes to an online format no later than March 23.
