Easter Bunny tours Bellaire on Saturday
• Residents asked to stay on porches and observe social distancing rules
BELLAIRE — The Easter Bunny plans to make a special appearance in the village on Saturday — but at a safe distance because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Bellaire Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Ray Penyak said children can get a look at the Easter Bunny from their own porches — not huddled on the streets and sidewalks together — starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.
“We here at the firehouse, we’re a little upset we would not be able to see the Easter Bunny due to the COVID-19 crisis. So we have reached out to the Easter Bunny, and he agreed to make a visit,” Penyak said. “Starting at 2 p.m. this Saturday, grab the kiddos, and stand on your porch for the fire truck. We will be driving the Easter Bunny around Bellaire.”
Penyak said he wanted to give special thanks to Capes and Tiaras of Bellaire for helping bring the Easter Bunny.
“This wouldn’t have happened without you! Thank you,” he said.
Because of the pandemic, state and federal leaders and scientists are mandating that people keep at least 6 feet apart from others and not gather in groups with more than 10 people. With this in mind, the fire department decided it would be best if everyone stays on their respective home’s porches in order to wave to the bunny.
