CADIZ — A Cadiz resident is accused of raping an adult, leading to his suspension from his duties within the Harrison Hills City School District.

Clayton Crosier, 28, of 439 Park Ave., Cadiz is charged with rape in the first degree following an incident that allegedly occured last month.

Cadiz Police Chief Ryan McCann said the department arrested Crosier on July 30. Crosier is accused of raping an adult victim at his Cadiz residence.

“It was reported in Jefferson County at Trinity Hospital,” McCann said of the alleged rape. “That led to them contacting us about the incident that happened in Cadiz. They sent the victim and a witness up here (to the police department), and that led to the arrest.”

McCann said the reported incident did not occur on school property, nor does it involve the school district where Crosier is employed.

Due to the nature of the crime, Crosier, who is a high school intervention specialist in the school district, has been placed on administrative leave from his job. Superintendent Duran Morgan said that Crosier is currently suspended from his duties, pending the outcome of an investigation and court proceedings.

Morgan said the decision is in line with the school district’s policy and state law.

“It’s in alignment with Ohio Revised Code 3319.40B,” he said.

State law indicates that a person who is arrested for certain feloinies or for a violent offense and is employed by a school shall be suspended from “all duties that require the care, custody or control of a child” while their case is pending.

Crosier was released from jail after posting a $50,000 cash bond. He is due back in court at 9 a.m. Aug. 16.
