Johnson tours American Heavy Plates in Hannibal Industrial Park
CLARINGTON — U.S. Congressman Bill Johnson joined Monroe County leaders for a tour of the American Heavy Plates facility at Hannibal Industrial Park.
Johnson met with county Commissioners Bill Bolon, Diane Burkhart and Mick Schumacher and Economic Developer/Port Authority Director Jason Hamman during the outing. The industrial park is owned by the Monroe County Port Authority.
Since opening in 2019, American Heavy Plates has experienced significant business and employment growth despite the complications posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Damian Brennan, vice president of American Heavy Plates, provided the tour for Johnson, R-Ohio, and commissioners. During the tour, Brennan discussed the unique business model and in-house capabilities that American Heavy Plates has put in place, which has directly impacted the company’s success.
The company currently employs approximately 130 full-time workers and has plans for new equipment that will increase production capacity.
The steel plate producer provides materials to the nation’s core manufacturing sectors, including energy, infrastructure, transportation, auto, agriculture, service centers, defense and mining.
