REV. RICHARD WILSON

The Rev. Richard M. Wilson, 84, of Jerusalem, OH, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV.

He was born in Jerusalem, OH, on June 3, 1932, a son of the late Charles L. and Alice Moore Wilson.

He was a retired electrician for the Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, OH. He was a Methodist pastor and currently serving the Somerton United Methodist Church, Somerton, OH.

He formerly pastored various churches through out Monroe, Belmont, Washington and Guernsey Counties for over 48 years. He was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Jerusalem, OH. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and military policeman serving during the Korean War.

He was a member and former Worshipful Master of the Sunsbury Lodge 362, Beallsville, OH; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge; was past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio; member of Beallsville Chapter 24 Order of the Eastern Star; past grand patron of the Grand Chapter of Ohio of the Order of Eastern Star; member of the Monroe County Park Board Commission; and trustee of the Jerusalem Cemetery Association.

Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the news and serving others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Wilson; a sister- in-law, Jean Wilson; a grandson, Brock Wilson; and a son-in-law, Scott Christy.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Williamson Wilson, whom he married on July 9, 1960; one daughter, Cathy Christy of Delaware, OH; one son, Brad (Jeri) Wilson of Jerusalem, OH; two brothers, Robert Wilson of Marietta, OH, and David Wilson of Barnesville, OH; six grandchildren, Michaela, Faith and Morgan Christy, Tony (Ashley) Chlon, Nicole (Chad) Kocher and Anessa Wilson; and two greatgrandchildren, Gabrielle Kocher and Tiernan Kocher.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, OH, from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017, and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, with Gardner Curtis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Jerusalem Cemetery, Jerusalem, OH.

Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday followed by Masonic services.
