James Robert “Jim” Jeffries, 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died August 18, 2017 in Forest Hill Care Center.

He was born September 15, 1929 in St. Clairsville, Ohio, a son of the late Walter Ray Jeffries and Martha Elizabeth Hardesty Jeffries.

Jim was a 1947 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and 1951 graduate of Ohio Northern with a BS Degree in Pharmacy. He was a retired owner and operator of Jeffries Drugs Inc. in St. Clairsville. He is a member, Elder and a Deacon of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville. His other memberships include: a member and past president of St. Clairsville (noon) Rotary Club; member of the St. Clairsville Chamber of Commerce; a 66-year member of the former Belmont Lodge No. 16 F.& AM and current Weyer Lodge No. 541; a life member of the Saints Club; past president of the Belmont-Jefferson County Academy of Pharmacy; member of the Ohio State Pharmacy Academy. Jim was honored by the city to preside as Grand Marshal of the Christmas Parade.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Gasper Jeffries.

Surviving are his daughter, Judith (Brenda Dennis) Jeffries of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons, John (Beth) Jeffries and Joe (Lisa) Jeffries all of St. Clairsville; a sister, Catherine Hale of St. Clairsville; his four grandchildren, Lauren, Adam, Jacob and Ryan; and a nephew, Jeffrey Hale of Salem, Oregon.

Friends and family will be received on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.

Visitation will again be held at First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Barb Jeffries Scholarship Fund at St. Clairsville High School or to First Presbyterian Church.
