JOSEPH HELMS

Joe was the son of the late Lloyd and Florence Helms.

He was retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, a member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church in Shadyside, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 52 Bellaire, Weyer Lodge 541 F & AM and Order of Eastern Star 489 Captina Chapter and a US Navy veteran.

Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved his family more than anything.

In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Zonker, Frances Scotka, Norma Gentile and Judy Boston and one brother, John Helms.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Bulger Helms of sixty years, his daughter, Kelly (James) Amato and son Scott all of Shadyside, Ohio; grandchildren, James (Jess), Eric (Kayla), Adam (Sara) and Karlie (Ian) Underation and his three great grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Jace, Grace and Beau Amato. Also two brothers, James (Trudy) and Jerry (Joan) both of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37thStreet Bellaire, Ohio on Tuesday from 2 pm until time of services at 6 pm with Chaplain Margie Carr officiating. Interment in the Holly Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.

The Belmont County Council of the American Legion will conduct Full Military Honors on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
