PAT KRAMER

Suzanne Patricia “Pat” Nauman Kramer, of Wheeling, WV, died February 27, 2019.

She was born in Martins Ferry, OH, on September 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Dr. John H. and Suzanne McLain Noble Nauman. She graduated from Martins Ferry High School and the Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University) where she was named to Mortar Board. She received a teaching certification from The Ohio State University. She taught first grade in Elyria, OH, and the Columbus Public Schools.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. John G. Kramer, and their children, Suzy (Fred) Lucci of Worthington, OH, Dr. John Nauman (Kristina) Kramer of Wheeling, Mac (Lelia) Kramer of Indian Hills, OH, and Cary Kramer of Gahanna, OH; her sister, Dorothy Nauman Wyckoff of Tryon, NC; and grandchildren, Hannah, Katy, Madison, Charlie, Sara, Henry and Micah.

Pat cared deeply about her community and believed strongly in supporting her community through service. An active community volunteer, Pat served on the Board of Directors of the Martins Ferry Public Library, Wheeling Country Day School and the Longboat Key, Florida Public Library. She chaired Oglebay Institute’s Mansion Committee, was active in the Junior League of Wheeling, the Poinsettia TWIG of the Ohio Valley Medical Center and Dorothy Johnson King’s Daughters and was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Known as “Patsy” to close family and friends as well as her grandchildren, she loved reading, especially mysteries and shared her love of books and reading with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her special joy and she loved hearing about their adventures. A life-long fan of theater, Pat was a frequent traveler to New York to see shows on Broadway. She and John traveled extensively and some of her fondest memories were of times spent with family and friends at their home in Longboat Key, FL.

A special thank you to the staff at the Welty Home and Liza’s Place for their wonderful care over the last 17 months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oglebay Institute for the Mansion Committee, the Martins Ferry Public Library or a charity of choice.
