MARY MAUCK

Mary Lucille Cupp Mauck, 78, of Wheeling, WV, died peacefully Wednesday, August 14, 2019, surrounded by her family at Liza’s Place after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Mary was born November 8, 1940 in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Calisse Cupp.

Mary Lou retired from Ohio County Schools where she spent 35 happy years teaching elementary school at Warwood School. A devout Catholic and a lifetime member of Corpus Christi Parish in Warwood, she volunteered her time to the Ladies Guild at Corpus Christi, Wheeling Woman’s Club, Warwood Lions Club, Bridge Club and the Ohio County Retired Teachers Association.

Mary Lou loved spending countless time with her loving family and loving friends. Her cherished holiday was Easter where she would spend days organizing one of her prized treasure hunts for her grandchildren that could sometimes last for hours. She looked forward to her annual visits to Oglebay and Seven Springs, spending long weekends with family and friends.

Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, following the Mountaineers to many bowl games, Alaska, Costa Rica, Canadian Rockies, Virgin Islands, baseball trips around the country and many trips to the East and West Coast.

Mary Lou also enjoyed volunteering her time with the OVAC, actively assisting with the Ron Mauck OVAC Wrestling Tournament, Queen of Queens and the Rudy Mumley All Star Football Game.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Phillips (Ernie), Dolly Welsh (Jack) and Peggy Montiegel (Bart); three brothers, Tom Cupp (Simone), Ted Cupp (Diane) and Ray Cupp; and sister-in-law, Carol Cupp.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Ron Mauck of Wheeling; her three children, Eric (Stacy) Mauck of Wheeling, WV, Jay (Melissa) Mauck of Wheeling, WV, and Missy (Dwain) Zink of Wintersville, OH; grandchildren, Michael Mauck, Nathan Mauck, Alex Zink and Abigail Mauck; brothers, Phillip Cupp and Mickey (Ruby) Cupp; sister-in-law, Patty (Jim) Habermehl; sister-in-law, Rose Cupp; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1508 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV, with Msgr. Eugene Ostrowski, V.F. as celebrant and the Rev. Paul Mundumoozhikkaranirappel, C.S.T. as concelebrant. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family.
