HELENE BISHOP

Helene “Helen” Bishop, 90, of Belmont, Ohio walked in Faith and passed into the Promise of Eternal Life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Willowbrook Christian Home in Columbus, Ohio.

Helene was born on January 9, 1929, at Sewickley, Pennsylvania, the only daughter of the late Helen and James Porterfield.

Helene was a graduate of Bridgeport High School. While living at Pleasant Grove, she was active in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, was leader of the Pastor/Parish Committee and led Bible School for several years.

When moving to Belmont, she became a member of the East Richland Friends Church. Helene was formerly employed as a secretary in the main office of Wheeling Steel, Wheeling, W. Va.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold “Herb” in 2010; their son, James “Jim” in 1995; their granddaughter, Jaime Raymond in 2009; also three brothers, Bob who was killed at Kanoehe Air Station, Hawaii (1941), Jim who was killed in Korean Waters (1951), and Bill USN (2010).

Surviving are her granddaughter, Brook (Brian) Baker; great-granddaughter, Rian Nichole Baker; and great-grandson, Chase Patrick Baker, all of Lewis Center, Ohio.

Respecting Helene’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and private services will be held at Hope Cemetery in Hendrysburg with Bill Yavelak officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helene’s memory to the Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, 5623 New Milford Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
