JAMES RUNKEL

James Thomas “Jim” Runkel, 80, of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

Jim was born in Martins Ferry, OH on June 8, 1939, a son of the late August and Rose (Reuther) Runkel.

He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Colerain, OH, and spent his retirement years volunteering at Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center in Wheeling, WV.

He was the former plant manager at Bobbie-Brooks and retired from Krisport Garment Factory. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, bowling and rooting for the Cleveland Indians and Browns.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Marcia (Fornari) Runkel; daughter, Kristin (Jay) Wilson, Martins Ferry; son, Joseph (Kimberly) Runkel, Mobile, AL; three grandsons, Josh, Gregory and Nicholas Wilson; granddaughter, Emma Runkel; sister, Judith (John) Guldan, Encinitas, CA; and brother, John (Judy) Runkel, Sewickley, PA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry, OH where friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain, OH. at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019, with Father Tim McGuire as celebrant.
