JOHN HINZEY

He was born November 29, 1970, the son of Elmer John and Donna (Zbysienski) Hinzey Jr. Greg was a member of Coal Brook Presbyterian Church in Neffs, Ohio. At the age of 16, Greg started his life time devotion to the community with the Neffs Volunteer Fire Department. After several years, he became the EMS Captain and Chief of Neffs VFD, until 1996 when he joined the Wheeling Fire Department, where he remained for 25 years. Greg was also a Registered Nurse with WVU Reynolds Emergency Department and a Lt. Paramedic. He was a member of IAFF Local 12 and the Brooke County Sportsman’s Club.

Greg is preceded in death by his his maternal grandparents, Henry and Phyllis Zbysienski; paternal grandparents, Elmer J. and Virginia Hinzey Sr.; one uncle, John Bish.

In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his loving wife, of 14 years, Tina (Siewny) Hinzey; three daughters, Olivia, Elizabeth and Lillian and one grandson on the way.

Greg’s passion included his beautiful girls, politics, hunting, camping, motorcycles and having a cold beer with friends.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 3-8 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., where funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, at 11 am. Interment will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, OH.
