RUSSELL VASEY
Russell A. Vasey, 88 of Bellaire, Ohio died Monday, August 3, 2020 in the Wheeling Hospital. He was born August 23, 1931 in Shadyside, Ohio son of the late Rawlings and Mary R. Prest Vasey.
Russ was a retired forklift operator for the former Ormet Corporation, a member of the St. John Catholic Church, Big Reds Touchdown Club and the American Legion Post 52 all of Bellaire, Ohio. He was a US Marine Corp veteran of the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor McKitrick, Florence Monroe, Rosemary Hinds, two brothers, John and Edward Vasey, granddaughter, Natalie Haswell and great granddaughter, Riley Jo Coyne. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Donahue Vasey, seven children, Cindy (Timothy) Haswell of Shadyside, Ohio, John R. (Wanda) Vasey of Bellaire, Ohio, David Vasey of Columbus, Ohio, Todd Vasey of Shadyside, Ohio, Kerry (Sandy) Vasey of Shadyside, Ohio, Randy Vasey of Shadyside, Ohio and Glenn (Carolyn) Vasey of St. Clairsville, Ohio and three sisters, Patricia (Robert) Straka of Toronto, Ohio, Margaret (Jerry) Penn of Springfield, Virginia and Judy (Steve) Hasko in California. Also ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 am at the St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire with Fr. Daniel Heusel as Celebrant. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire. Vigil services will be held on Wednesday at 7:45 pm.
