HELEN MIHALIC

Helen A. Mihalic, 97, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Maynard, Ohio died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020.

Born Dec. 13, 1922 on Scotch Ridge, Martins Ferry, Ohio, Helen was the daughter of the late Joseph Kowalczyk and the late Anna (Lojas) Kowalczyk.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, George Mihalic, oldest daughter Naomi R. Caldwell; and stepfather, Antony Oszkiniec.

Helen was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic, Colerain, and the former St. Stanislaus Church, Maynard. She was a member of the American Legion Post 666 Auxiliary, the Catholic Women’s Club of St. Stanislaus Church, and was retired from Azallion’s Shoe Department.

Helen enjoyed bowling, bingo, and bus trips with her many friends to casinos and places of interest. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Helen is survived by daughters, Leslie (Dimitri) Vassilaros, St. Clairsville; Laurie (Michael) Munas, Piedmont; son, Mark (Sharon) Mihalic of Jamestown, Colo.; grandson, Jason A. Woods, Midway, and son-in-law James Caldwell.

She also was preceded in death by sisters Blanche (John) Spisak, and Anne (Edward) Soukup, and brothers Ben (Rose), Walter (Clara), Edward (Louise), and Joseph (Wilma).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required for a Private Viewing for family members only from 3-5 p.m. Monday at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville.

Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. Frances Cabrini followed by interment at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, where Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband, George. Together Again.
