RICHARD SHERMAN
Richard D. “Dick” Sherman, age 96 of Cambridge went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in the care of Hospice of Genesis. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on December 9, 1924 a son of the late H.C. Sherman and E. L. (Brackenberry) Sherman.
He was a graduate of Brown High School. Dick was drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1945. He was a charter member of the Giffin Park Church in St. Clairsville. He had been the president of Cambridge Dairy Company, co owner of the Floridian Motel in St. Clairsville, worked at Consolidated Coal Company and also at Muskingum Mining Company in Dresden. In his later years he was the owner of Spinning Wheel Antiques in Norwich. Dick was a life long Buckeye fan and devoted supporter of Road Runner Softball.
Dick was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife of 69 years, Ruth E. (Warner) Sherman; a sister Alma Sherry Bryen and brother-in-law James Bryen; sister-in-law Janice Warner; and a nephew Mark Warner.
He is survived by: a son Rick D. (Jane) Sherman of Cambridge; a brother-in
-law and best friend Robert Warner of Cambridge; a granddaughter Rebekah Sherman and her husband (Will Stevens) of Cambridge; great grandson Booker Sherman; niece Cathy Warner Stein; nephew Scott Warner; daughter in law Ginger Sherman; seven great nephews; and one great great, niece and nephew.
