JOE ROSEN

Joe Mark Rosen, 64, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 in OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born July 17, 1956 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, a son of the late Mike Rosen and Grace Garrison Rosen.

After graduating from Union Local High School in 1974, Joe attended Wheeling Barber College and earned his barber’s license. Those haircutting skills served him well years later, helping him pay his way through the Cincinnati Bible College where he received a deaf education degree. After receiving that degree Joe suffered a stroke and needed to have a heart transplant. He received his precious life-saving gift on October 25, 1985 at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Soon After, he was able to continue his career teaching sign language at Belmont College while also running his barber shop in his hometown of Centerville. He later accepted a position as an Early Intervention Specialist in Cambridge, for the Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where he retired after 16 years. He worked tirelessly to show his appreciation to God, his donor family and to the many people who helped raise funds for his transplant and support him through prayer.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Frank Rosen.

Surviving are his sister, Ilene (Charley Mac) Dillon of Jerusalem, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Helen (Paul) Parnell of St. Clairsville; eight nieces and nephews, Craig Rosen; Erin (Richard) Kramer; Michael (Emily) Rosen; Amber (Luke) Brunck; Nathan (Ciera) Carleton; Zachary (Jeanie McCutcheon) Carleton; Erin (Drew) Diosi; Dustin (Amber) Dillon; and 20 Great nieces and nephews; many cousins and friends.

Joe’s gentle nature and warm smile will be missed by all that knew him.
