GEORGE PETRILLA

He was born March 19, 1929 in Adena, OH, to Andrew and Mary (Kasarda) Petrilla who preceded him in death. On Dec. 27, 1952, he married Dolores Merrelli Petrilla who survives.

Also surviving are their daughters: Rosemarie (Steve) Dickman of Lima, Diane Petrilla of Palmyra, MI, and Melanie (Tony) Schroeder of Glandorf, OH; grandchildren: Andrew (Shelby) Dickman, Anthony (Jennifer) Dickman, Katie Dickman, Elizabeth (Trey) Nates, Nicholas Schroeder, Zachary (Mia McPherson) Schroeder and Natalie Schroeder; and great-grandchildren: Henry, Michael and Theodore Dickman and Leo Schroeder.

George is preceded in death by the following siblings: Steve, Andy, Joe, Mike, Paul, John, Ann and Mary.

He was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, Lima where he was a sacristician, usher and Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a 1947 graduate of Adena High School and a 1951 graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College. He was employed at the Lima Engine Plant of Ford Motor Co. for 35 years as a superintendent of material handling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

His Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021 in St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Mike Sergi to officiate. Entombment will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum, Lima where military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, 1170 Shawnee Rd., Lima, on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m., where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Gerard’s on Wednesday.
