LARRY SKIDMORE

Larry L. Skidmore, 75, of Powhatan Point, OH died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at his home. He was born November 7, 1945, in Garrison, KY, a son of the late Buster Kenneth and June Richardson Skidmore.

Larry was a retired carpenter of Carpenter’s Local 186 in Ashland, KY, and a member of the Vanceburg VFW. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran serving for eight years (two tours) during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Skidmore, Jr and Harry V. Skidmore; six brothers, Homer, Kenneth, Don, David, Tommy and Mike Skidmore; a sister, Freda Haulk.

Surviving are his wife Margaret J. “Bird” Brice Skidmore of Powhatan Point; his children, Al Strickland of Powhatan Point, Joe Strickland of Columbus, OH, Jim Strickland of Powhatan Point, twins Shannon (Dan) Sherer and Ron (Angie) Skidmore both of Dallas, OR; 10 grandchildren, Zack Strickland, Kristen Borton, Katie Strickland, Tina Rowe, Curtis Skidmore, Ashley Sparks, Johnny Borrows, Jessica Cavender, Jacob Vida and Bradley Shew; siblings, Nelson (Martha) Skidmore, Wilma Collier, Betty (JR) Bloomfield and Cora (Ray) May all of Garrison, KY; 27 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, OH, with funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Robert Fraley officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Powhatan Honor Guard.
