KATHERINE ABEL
Katherine Julia (Jurco) Abel, 88 of Bridgeport passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born March 11, 1934, in Barton, the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Dolak) Jurco.
Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert “Bob” Abel, Sr. in 2013 after 63 years of marriage, siblings; Stephen, Andy Jurco, Ann Engelmeier, Josephine Lantz, and Margaret Zann.
She was retired from the former Melody Manor in Lansing, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Wolfurst and the CWC. She was a member of the Family Bunco Club for 58 years and was known as the “Farkle Queen”.
Surviving are her 3 children, Janice (T.O) Owings of Wheeling. Bob, Jr. (Suzanne) of Warsaw, IN, and Frank (Becky) of Salem, OH., grandchildren; Marc (Edith) Anderson, Stephen (Sheena) Abel, Michael (Lindsay) Abel, Nick and Miranda Abel, great- grandchildren, Eliza and Sam Anderson, Robert N., Patricia Suzanne Paxton, Paityn, Donte and Madeline Abel, sister; Elizabeth Howard of St. Clairsville and sister – in-law Linda Jurko of St. Clairsville.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 with Wake Service at 2pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. John Mucha and Fr. David Cornett co-celebrants. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
