2011 Iditarod Yearbook is now available

THE 2011 Iditarod Yearbook is on sale now for $45.

Orders can be made in person at Harrison Central High School from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each school day until the April 30 in Room 33 or mailed to Mrs. Linnah Hodkinson, Harrison Central Yearbook Advisor at Harrison Central High School, 440 East Market St., Cadiz, OH 43907.

Payment must be made when order is taken. Checks should be made out to Harrison Central Yearbook.

Also available are previous yearbooks from Harrison Central High School from the years 2000 – 2010, except for 2008. No yearbooks are available for that year. If interested, call Mrs. Hodkinson for details, 740-942-7700.

AUDITIONS for the upcoming spring musical, “I Married an Angel,” will be held March 27 at 2 p.m. at the Deersville Community Players Theater.

The musical will be presented June 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26.

THE SCIO Civic Club Cash-A-Rama will be held tonight at the Scio American Legion.

All proceeds benefits the village’s annual Scio July 4th celebration including a magnificent fireworks display.

For a donation of $15 per person, those attending will be able to partake in an all-you-can spaghetti dinner provided by the Scio Sons of the American Legion plus they will have a chance in a reverse raffle drawing.

The dinner will be served from 4-7 p.m. The drawing will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Over cash give-away will total $1,450.

THE CADIZ Presbyterian Church at 154 West Market Street, Cadiz, will hold an American Red Cross blood drive on March 24, from 1-7 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation may stop in at the church or call ahead at 740-942-2366 to make an appointment.

IN ADDITION to the upcoming blood drive, the church will host a spaghetti dinner today from 12-2 p.m., to benefit the Youth Group trip to Alive 2011. The price is right because organizers are accepting love offerings only.

ON APRIL 1 and 15, fish dinner will continue to be available at the Jewett Volunteer Fire Department at 208 West Main St. from 4-7 p.m.

Cost is $8 for an adult meal while children may eat for a $6 fee. In addition, the firemen are offering an all-you-can-eat dinner for $10.

CONGRATULATIONS ARE extended to the honorees of the annual Cadiz Business Association banquet which will be held tonight.

Among this year’s honorees are Don Richards, Sally Buffalo Park Board Award of Excellence; Dr. Scott Pendleton, DVM, Harrison News-Herald Citizen’s Choice Award; Gold Star Kennel, Business of the Year; Cadiz American Legion Post 34, Organization of the Year; and Harrison County Community Improvement Corp., CBA Beautification Award.

The banquet is being held tonight at Wallace Lodge in Sally Buffalo Park.

Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour followed by a dinner and the award ceremony at 7 p.m.

Adrian Pincola will once again serve as master of ceremonies.

In addition to the above mentioned honors, awards will also include the Cadiz Civic Women’s Club Community Service Award and the Lions Club Citizen of the year.

The event is sponsored by the Cadiz Business Association, Sally Buffalo Park Board and the Harrison News-Herald.

Tickets, at $25 each, are available at PNC Bank, Orme’s Hardware and Cadiz’ Harrison County Visitors Center.

TICKETS ARE now available for the annual Lucas D. Sedgmer Memorial Scholarship’s Sportsmans Feast which will be held April 9 at the New Athens Volunteer Fire Department.

Doors open at 3 p.m. with food service beginning at 4 p.m.

Each ticket is $15 and includes chances on numerous door prizes, food, drinks, music and more. Additional chances on hunting items will be available throughout the evening.

Other activities include live and silent auctions, 50/50 raffle, corn hole tournament and t-shirt sales.
