The Buckeye Local Band is hosting an Alumni Band!!!

Any former band member who graduated from Buckeye Local, Buckeye South, Buckeye North, Buckeye West and Buckeye SouthWest is welcome to join the alumni band. The band will perform at the Aug. 27 football game. If interested contact Mrs. Emery (Reed) at 740-733-7927 or Mrs. Jancura at 740-733-8536. The band will also include the Danceline. No routines will be performed this time, only the fight song will be played.

Warren Township

Lions Club

Once again the Warren Township area is privileged to have an active Lions Club. Organized in November 2010, the Lions Club now has 19 members, with officers being Dan Dimmick, President, Andrea Stoll, Vice President, Russell Reed, Secretary and Kelly Miller, Treasurer.

The Lions Club is interested in working cooperatively with the Buckeye Local School District as well as the villages of Yorkville, Tiltonsville and Rayland on projects to benefit the area. A broom sale was recently held as well as a Charter dinner. Tickets are being sold at the Back to School Bash on the raffle of a 42″ Flat screen TV, The Lions Club is a supporter of the Bash. Tickets may also be purchased from any Lions Club member. One project being considered is the formation of a Leos Club for students at the Buckeye Local Junior High. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at Valley Hospice in Rayland. Area residents have given thumbs up to Bruce and Elaina Harris with the opening of Grand Slam Pizza in the former Moffo’s Pizza building in Yorkville. Located at 151 Market St., the pizza shop is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are currently closed on Sundays. During football season, the shop will be open on Sundays and closed on Tuesdays. A full menu of pizza by the slice or tray, hoagies, various types of pizza rolls, salads and rolls, along with Kirke’s Ice Cream is available. Eat in or take out. Holy Name Society

The annual four-man golf scramble to be held on Aug. 6 at the Fairway River Links in Rayland is one of the organizations best-known events. The Holy Name Society, in operation at St. Joseph’s for more than 70 years, is dedicated to doing many projects that benefit the church and the community. Along with aiding in the assessments of the church, the group recently purchased new statues for the outdoor Nativity Scene, which the members set up in front of the church on Mound Street. Everyone in the area enjoys the Nativity Scene. Proceeds from the golf scramble aid in these and all projects.

Memorial Tree Committee

Please be reminded that additional members are needed for the Memorial Tree Lighting Committee held in Yorkville during the Christmas Season. Anyone interested in joining the committee or donating to the project is asked to call Dana or Lana Brown at 859-6486.

Reunion

The Buckeye South High School Alumni Reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 3-10 p.m. at the Warren Township Park.

Class photos will begin at 5 with the Class of 1973. A digital photo will also be available.

There will be a Memorial Wall to remember those alumni who are deceased. A Chinese Auction is planned along with a 50/50 Raffle. Buckeye South graduates will provide music at the reunion. To update your information, please log in to the Buckeye South Alumni page on Facebook.
