Summer Fun

JUNE HAS arrived and with it comes the festival season in the Ohio Valley.

Nearly every town has a celebration during the summer months. It is entertainment for the entire family.

The fun begins this week in Bellaire. The annual All-American Days Festival commences Thursday and runs through Saturday night. The All-American Town event offers something for people of all ages, climaxed by a spectacular fireworks show Saturday night.

All-American Days spawns a flurry of festival fun throughout the Ohio Valley.

Later this month, Shadyside stages its innovative Loop Festival. Martins Ferry offers up SkyShow and Betty Zane Days in July and August, respectively, while Wheeling gives us the Blues Festival and the ever-popular Italian Festival later in the summer.

Chautauqua Days yields a unique entertainment menu while Plaza West Fest is an enjoyable patriotic tribute.

Not to be overlooked are our county fairs which serve as teaching tools for our youth through 4-H programs while also featuring entertainment of all varieties.

And obviously the Cadillac of all local summer festivals is Jamboree in the Hills. The country music extravaganza is also a cash cow for area businesses.

Regardless of your entertainment tastes, the Ohio Valley has something for you this summer.

We urge everyone to support local festivals. By doing so, you support a worthwhile cause while treating yourself to some old-fashioned fun.
