Cheers & Jeers
CHEERS that Ohioans apparently aren’t lighting up as much as they used to (or else, they’re doing it at home) as violations of the indoor smoking ban dropped from 2,287 in 2008 to 334 in 2014.
JEERS, however, that uncollected fines regarding the indoor smoking ban total $2.1 million.
CHEERS to the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, the West Virginia History Alive! program, the West Virginia Humanities Council and the Robert Baker family for presenting a
program Monday at 6 p.m. in the library about Sacagawea, who
provided invaluable assistance to the Corps of Discovery, led by
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. That expedition also included
George Shannon who was born near Barnesville.
CHEERS to the Ford company for moving the assembly of its medium-duty pickup trucks from Mexico to a plant in Avon Lake near Cleveland. This is the first time the trucks are being built in the
United States – and it’s about time!
CHEERS to Yorkville officials and others who made improvements at the Yorkville park possible.
CHEERS to Premier Bank & Trust of St. Clairsville and the Akron Racers for “batting a thousand” by making it possible for the Division IV state champion Shadyside softball team to return
Monday to the scene of its championship game and to be honored
before a game.
