Grant Money

THE CITY of St. Clairsville has earned the respect from the powers that be in the state.

As a result, City Recreation Director Kevin Barr has landed a $70,000 grant from the Ohio Department Natural of Resources.

St. C. officials have very nice plans for the money. The hilltop community will soon be able to lay claim to its own amphitheater.

ODNR Director Sean Logan noted why the grant ended up in the scenic western Belmont County community.

“St. Clairsville is a well-respected community. We know when we receive a grant application from St. Clairsville, it’s got to be for a good idea and it will be well supported.”

That statement speaks volumes for city officials, its residents and specifically its recreation director.

Barr is a shaker and mover in attracting grant money to St. Clairsville. He has been ultra successful in attracting state and federal funds for St. Clairsville to utilize.

The St. Clairsville Recreation Department has developed the community into a haven of recreational venues for young and old alike. They have come to fruition due to the teamwork and cooperation amongst city and recreation officials as well as their aggressive and well-thought-out game plan to secure grant monies.

Upon completion, the amphitheater will prove a magnet for a host of new activities and artists to the city. As a result, St. Clairsville businesses will benefit from the increased traffic to the hilltop.

We commend St. Clairsville and Barr on their most recent success story.
