Dear Editor,

I saw a recent newspaper article interview and quoting Assistant Chief Ken Saffell, of the Cumberland Trail Fire District. It is Emergency Medical Services providers week. Such is a very worthy professional calling to celebrate. I’ve represented this district for many years and have come to know many of the men. They’re loyal, brave and dedicated individuals. They would (indeed have countless times) go into a burning car or building to save a person, without any hesitation or fear of their own safety. The word hero is not inappropriately applied to them.

The district has been under the excellent supervisor of Chief Greg Reline, Assistant Chief Saffell, and the dedicated board for many years.

I would just like to say from a personal standpoint, God Bless all the men and women in this District, and other units, who serve the public faithfully.

They are worthy of all commendations that are given to them!
