Bridgeport

Dear?Editor:

First, I want to start off by congratulating the entire Bridgeport football team and coaches on a amazing season. These young men have nothing to be ashamed of…this season has been both memorable and history-making. You have accomplished something that can never be taken away from you.

I am very proud to say (as are many others) that I am a graduate of Bridgeport High School (Class of 1991).

Comments have been made around town about how much community spirit this season has generated…I agree. For example, the night parade for their undefeated season as well as the community pep rallies. However, why did this “so-called” community spirit have to end just because they lost Friday night?

First of all, why did so many of the “fans” leave the game before it was officially over? If you are a “true” Bulldog fan, you are one no matter what! Therefore, you would have been there to the end to show the team that you were indeed proud of them. Making it to the regional finals is something that has never happened in Bridgeport football history, and these boys worked hard all year to get there….only to see a handful of fans left to watch them accept their trophy. It was disappointing to them as well as those of us who did stay!

Also, calls were made after the game to community officials in regard to having the local fire departments and/or police escort the boys into town. These calls fell on deaf ears….comments were “why…they lost?” So what?

This event should have been planned earlier….no matter they won or lost!!!!!!!!! The only thing you heard at Perkins Field Friday night were the engines of the parents cars and the crickets!!!

I feel that these young men deserved a better welcome into town than what they received. In many of the “true” fans eyes, these young men are heroes in this community, and I feel that Friday night they were let down!!!!!!

In closing, I want to said again that these young men have nothing to be ashamed of and should hold their heads high and be proud that they are Bridgeport?Bulldogs.

Congratulations on your awesome 2010, 12-1 season!!!!!! Go DOGS!!!!

Conquer Chiari

Dear Editor

I would like to thank everyone in The Ohio Valley who helped make the second annual, “Walk Across America to Conquer Chiari,” a huge success. Without all the local business’s and communities support we would not have been able to have such a successful walk this year. Its amazing at the amount of support we received. We had more than 150 plus people in attendance this year, compared to 2009, we had only 75-80 people in attendance. We were able to raise close to $9,000.?Our goal was $10,000. All proceeds that are raised go to a nonprofit organization Conquer Chiari out of Wexford, Pa. These proceeds are used to help find a cure for Chiari, currently there is research being done at Akron University.

Once again I would like to express our family’s gratitude to everyone that played a part in making this a great event, because without any of you it would not have been possible.

Sincerely,

The Koscoe Family
