Put republicans in charge of education. Then kids will believe the world is 6,000 years old, ted cruz is God's brother, and Jesus will soon be able to cure the common cold.

Gene, Gene, Gene. Do those countries the students are from have a National Education Association that controls the curriculum at the expense of their students? And what the }{ell does universal health care have to do with a quality education? I would like to see the results of those tests if urban areas like DC, Philly, Chicago and Detroit were excluded. The last time I checked, the public education system here is fully supported by liberals, meanwhile test results like this result in no change, except to spend more money per student. As Dr. Phil would say, "How's that been workin' for ya?

The media keep asking what Republicans have learned from the debacle they created, but the more interesting question is what the rest of us have learned. The answer is: We have to take back the House of Representatives in 2014, and keep Republicans the minority in the Senate. Some of you continue to believe there's no difference between the two parties, and I agree Democrats are too dependent on big money and therefore often too reluctant to support necessary reforms like single payer, major cuts in the military, a resurrected Glass-Steagall, limits on the size of the biggest Wall Street banks, a living wage, card-check for unionization, higher tax rates on the wealthy, and elimination of the ceiling on income subject to Social Security taxes. But I don't subscribe to the false equivalency between the two parties. The Republican Party has become the party of the powerful, privileged, prejudiced, and paranoid. They are incapable and undeserving of governing this great nation. - Reich

Suppose a relatively small group financed by a handful of billionaires (1) takes over state governments in order to redistrict, gerrymander, require voter IDs, purge voter rolls, and otherwise suppress the votes of the majority; (2) secretly bankrolls candidates for these safe seats who pledge to shrink and dismember the government; (3) then, once these candidates are elected, has them shut down the government in order to repeal or amend laws the plotters dislike; (4) then forces the nation to default on its debts and thereby throws the economy into a tailspin in order to get their way; and (5) runs a vast PR campaign to convince the American public of big lies about laws the plotters dislike or policies they seek. Would you call this an attempted coup d’etat? If not, what would you call it? And what would you do about it? - Robert Reich

Below average is now represented by the tea party movement led by ted cruz. If 90% of teachers are Democrats, that doesn't say much for the learning ability of republicans.

Beach1 is ****** because the tea baggers are in full retreat. LOL to that.

Just look at any message board. The vast majority of incoherent posts are from the far Right fringe. Teabaggers aren't fond of fancy book learnin'.

I would not send the dog of my worst enemy to the petting zoos known as the American public school system. If you have children, work 2 jobs or do whatever you need to do in order to send them to private schools or get good home schooling for them.
