MARTINS FERRY - Last year Cloud 9 in Martins Ferry initiated Make a Difference Mondays, offering free hair and makeup styling services to cancer survivors, cancer patients and family members who lost someone to the terrible disease.
They also took donations, held an auction and generated more than $800 dollars to donate to charity.
Bridgette McLeod, owner of Cloud 9, decided to make it an annual event and on Mondays in October, beginning with Oct. 1, Make a Difference Mondays are making their return.
Anyone battling through cancer, a survivor or a family member who lost a loved one to cancer can stop down between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for a little free pampering.
Refreshments will be provided, including DeFelice Bros. Pizza.
Donations will be accepted throughout the month and the proceeds will go toward the American Cancer Foundation, Saint Judes children's Hospital and also local Bellaire High School student Harlei Parker who is battling cancer.
One avenue to generate funding is Cloud 9's "Sign our Pole" campaign inside the salon.
For a $5 donation, customers can sign the pole inside Cloud 9 with a memorial message, or one of support.
There will also be an auction with a number of different items donated both by Cloud 9 staff members and local businesses, including tickets to a Cleveland Browns' game.
"We like to give back and after last year, we wanted to make this an annual event," McLeod said of Make a Difference Mondays."
