I am writing to the 53% who Romney thinks are worthwhile members of society, I am one of the 47% he considers to be leeches on society, not worthy of compassion or respect. I did not set out to contract Multiple Sclerosis and become disabled in 1998 at age 46. I thank God for the wisdom of our government for creating Social Security and Medicare every day; and I shudder in fear of the future the Republicans are planning for people like me.
Charlie Wilson, our Democrat candidate for the 6th Congressional District, is one of US, the people of Belmont County and eastern Ohio. He knows and understands the dignity that we feel is being threatened by Republican Tea Party rabble rousers, and he wants to go back to Washington to protect us, the backbone of society who are aging, and those of us who would work if able.
As a life-long small businessman, Charlie is well able to determine what is fair to both private citizens and businesses, and Charlie has fought and will continue to fight to protect what is right and fair to everyone. He knows that a strong manufacturing base means jobs for our local economy, Charlie has been a friend to mining and manufacturing and stood up to his own party when asked to support the Cap and Trade bill. Charlie would never vote in favor of trade policies that send American manufacturing jobs overseas, he has the kind of independent leadership in Washington that we need.
The Republicans in Congress are not focusing on creating jobs, they are busy working to protect the wealthiest people in the nation; the man holding our Congressional seat at the moment, Bill Johnson, will not even support extending Bush's tax cuts and I find this shocking and frightening. Bill Johnson puts the millionaires on Wall Street above us, his constituents on Main Street. Constituents who are citizens, all deserving the consideration and whole hearted concern of their Congressman. Dedication to the people of this District, without care of their politics, is a tradition that Charlie Wilson has adhered to fiercely, following in the footsteps of statesmen like Doug Applegate, ( whom I was fortunate to work for and to serve this District) , and Wayne L. Hays before him.
I support Charlie Wilson because he supports us, and I trust him to protect the future of our District, state and country in matters of building industry and creating jobs, in matters of individuals and families he will protect Social Security and Medicare, and he will continue to bring federal funds back to pave roads, install water and sewer, and improve schools.
Charlie Wilson will work to insure that our Future is brighter and has promise, his opponent offers only uncertainty and fear that you are just a number and can be subtracted from the life we have always known.
Charlie Wilson is the only man who is strong in his convictions and independent of anyone telling him how best to vote on our behalf to have earned my respect and my vote to return Charlie Wilson to Ohio's 6th Congressional District.
