ED POLLI - Staff Writer , Times Leader

THE STATE Cleaners, located at 147 E. Main St., in St. Clairsville, was robbed at approximately 3:10 p.m on Wednesday.

According to a press release from the St. Clairsville Police Department, a youthful looking male, estimated to be in his late teens to early 20s, made off with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect left through the side door of the cleaners and ran up the alley toward Newell Avenue.

The business is only about two blocks from the city police station and the Belmont County Courthouse.

The suspect is described as being five feet, six inches to five feet, seven inches tall, weighed about 150 to 160 pounds and was wearing dark blue jeans, dark jacket and had dark curly hair covered by a dark toboggan.

"No weapon was involved, and no one got hurt," Police Chief Martin Kendzora said. "Right now, we have no idea who he (the suspect) is."

Kendzora said robberies are rare in St. Clairsville, especially in the downtown area. Still, he knows his department must be prepared.

"We have not had any for a while, but the potential is always there," he said.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact the St. Clairsville Police at (740) 695-0123.
