COLUMBUS State Rep. Jack Cera (D-Bellaire) announced Wednesday State Controlling Board approval of money designated for recreational areas in his House district. The Powhatan Boat Launch and Marina will receive $9,384 for renovation of its restroom and Winterville Village Field will receive $15,000 for a new playground and picnic area.

"Bringing state dollars home and enhancing our local recreational facilities is always rewarding, and I am pleased these communities will benefit from this opportunity," said Rep. Cera.

According to Representative Cera, this is the 19th round of grants through the state's NatureWorks grant program.

This funding opportunity allows local governments to develop and rehabilitate local recreational areas through state grants. The program provides up to 75% reimbursement assistance for local government subdivisions.
