Ferry house coming down

MARTINS FERRY - Work has begun on tearing down a fire-damaged and hazardous house at 631 Dehauss St. which was posing a threat to a nearby residence.

Work should be completed and debris cleared away by the end of the week.

On Feb. 13, Northern Court ruled that the owner, Gus Harris, 60, 528 Spring St., Martins Ferry, was ordered to pay $10,000 re-imbursement to the city. He went to Northern Court after pleading not guilty in Mayor's Court.

WORK BEGINS on tearing down a dilapidated and hazardous house in Martins Ferry. The area should be cleared by the end of the week.

The house suffered fire damage February of 2012 and the city has since attempted to have the building demolished due to concerns about its possible collapse.
