Basketball season has been over for a few weeks now, but the senior players will get one last chance to play a prep game this weekend at several venues.

The prep hoops all-star tour begins this evening with a pair of games, involving some local players.

A large collection of boys and girls' talent will be on display at Buckeye Trail High School in Old Washington with the annual District 12 All-Star Classic, which pits East vs. West.

The girls' game in District 12 begins the evening at 6 p.m. and the boys' game is slated for approximately 8 p.m.

At halftime of the girls' game, there will be a 3-point shootout, while at halftime of the boys' encounter there will be a slam dunk competition.

Along with the games, there will be several special presentations throughout the evening, including coach of the year honors, official of the year, assistant coaches of the year, distinguished service and the latest class of District 12 Hall of Famers will be formally inducted.

The complete rosters for the game can be found on Page B4 of today's edition.

The boys' coaches of the year are as follows: Scott Aronhalt, Zanesville (D-I), Mike Andrews, Cambridge (D-II), Rod Gray, Buckeye Trail (D-III) and Mark Romick, River (D-IV).

The girls' coaches of the year are: Jeff Moore, Zanesville (D-I), Pat Miller, Maysville (D-II), Dan Liedtke, Fort Frye (D-III) and Rick Isaly, River (D-IV).

Donnie Madzia will receive the Official of the Year Award, while Bridgeport girls' assistant Jason Hanson will receive the assistant coach of the year award.

The hall of fame class includes: St. Clairsville's Ann Osborne, Shenandoah's Lynn Miley-Werry, Fort Frye's Clint Hayes and Union Local's Ben Porter.

THE BATTLE Against Cystic Fibrosis All-Star Game will also be contested this evening. The boys and girls' games will be held at Parkersburg South.

River's Cody Caldwell and Cassidy McCullough are the only two area players, who are taking part in the game, which will begin with the girls at 6 and boys at 8 p.m.

ON SUNDAY, the OVAC All-Star Games will be held. A full preview on those games will be contained in Sunday's edition.
