Monroe Central wins Muxie’s title

Monroe Central's Seminoles claimed the 2013 Muxie's World Gym Classic, knocking off a pair of opponents during a three-team event Saturday at Woodsfield.

After the Noles and River both defeated St. John's, Monroe scored a 7-2 decision of the rival Pilots.

Monroe's Kordell Antill fired a complete game two-hitter, setting down 11 Pilots on strikes. Cody Caldwell, Daulton Reynolds and Cole Isaly worked the hill for River. teaming for two Ks and three walks.

The Noles' Seth Alleman clouted a solo home run and also singled, totaling two RBIs. Jacob Black belted two singles and drove in one. Evan Blackstone singled and accounted for two runs. Jeremy Luyster also singled and knocked in one.

River's Kam Brown singled and doubled, driving in one.

Monroe Central 10, St. John's 0

The Noles' Dylan Hamilton blanked the Irish on four hits, striking out eight and walking none. Jacob Black knocked in three tallies via a single and double. Tanner Burkhart doubled and scored two teammates. Kordell Antil drilled a double and collected a run batted in.

The Irish's DJ Shoemaker socked two singles.

River 8, St. John's 1

River's Kam Brown allowed but two hits while compiling 11 strikeouts and two walks.

Logan Lucas led River at the plate, collecting three singles and two RBIs. Cody Caldwell doubled and plated a pair. Chad Isaly contributed two singles and a run batted in. Brown aided his cause with two singles.

Lance Williams singled and knocked in the Irish's lone tally.

St. Clairsville 10, Buckeye Local 1

AT Connorville, invading St. Clairsville used a pair of four-run innings to knock off the host Panthers.

Red Devils' sophomore mound ace Michael Jacob stopped the Panthers on eight hits in a complete game performance. Jacob recorded eight strikeouts and walked but one.

Jacob aided his cause at the plate, rapping a double and two singles. Turner Provost singled three times and Daulton Freeman delivered a double.

Eric Banal, Shane Duncan and Lucas Ostijich logged mound duty for Buckeye. They teamed for five Ks and seven walks.

Now 10-11, Buckeye Local is scheduled to host Shadyside on Monday.

East Richland Christian 7, Hundred 6

AT Lafferty, the host Lions knocked off invading Hundred behind Zachary Clark who recorded seven strikeouts.

Clark also starred at the plate, accounting for two runs via two singles. Logan Lish drilled a double and two singles, driving in a pair. George Bell belted three singles and knocked in one. Garrett Hart hammered two singles, scoring a teammate. Marshall Dickinson donated a double and run batted in.
