MAYNARD — A trio of pitchers combined on a three-hitter Sunday afternoon as Maynard (2-0) remained unbeaten in Ohio Valley Baseball League action with 2-0 triumph over the visiting Wheeling Cardinals (0-1) on Firemen’s Field inside the Community Park.

Chris McIntyre, Brennan Binni and Cody Goletz all worked on the hill. McIntyre earned the win, with Goletz picking up the save.

The contest was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Max Schimmel reached base. Chase Garan was inserted as the pinch runner and he scored on Eric Banal’s triple. Banal would come across when Zach Clark grounded out to the right side.

The Cardinals threatened in the seventh with two on and no outs. Goletz entered and fanned two of the next three hitters to escape unharmed.
