Barnesville baseball now 15-0; Shamrocks topple UL in softball

BARNESVILLE — Riley Tubaugh threw a two-hitter Monday, striking out 11 and walking two as Barnesville improved to 15-0 with an 8-1 prep baseball victory against Bridgeport at Memorial Park.

The following players all contributed two singles and an RBI for Barnesville — Aaron Marovich, Jared Kernen, Jagger Jefferis and Hunter Carpenter.

Tubaugh scatterd two singles.

The Shamrocks, who will face Linsly for the OVAC 3A title Friday night, will welcome Martins Ferry today.

Martins Ferry 9, Indian Creek 2

MARTINS FERRY — Jake Probst belted a grand slam and tripled en route to knocking in five runs as Martins Ferry evened its record at 7-7 with a victory against Indian Creek.

Drake Dobson added a triple and two RBI for the Purple Riders.

Weir 7, Union Local 4

WEIRTON — Tyler Kelly fanned 10 and Drew Curtis drove in two on a single and a double as Weir defeated Union Local.

Zak Wyasek added a single, a double and a RBI for the Red Riders (9-10).

Ayden Smolira, Cody Morrison, Luke Merritt and Hunter McCort all delivered RBI for the Jets (7-12).

SOFTBALL

Barnesville 12, Union Local 10

MORRISTOWN — Barnesville rallied from a six-run deficit by exploding for 10 combined runs between the fourth and sixth innings en route to claiming the milk pitcher for the first time against rival Union Local.

Erin Hannahs smacked two singles, a triple and knocked in a run for the Shamrocks (11-11), who scored seven times in the fifth.

Cayleigh Reynolds added two singles and two RBI for Barnesville, while Shayla Hunter had two singles and an RBI.

Bailey Rinkes belted a 3-run homer for the Jets (4-11), while Keira Gregor doubled, singled and knocked in two.

Union Local visits Buckeye Local today.

Monroe Central 5, River 3

SARDIS — Kristen Friday homered and knocked in two runs and Allee Zwick doubled and singled as Monroe Central edged River.

Rymie Bishop added a double and an RBI for the Seminoles.

Jonayah Moeller and Canadace Caldwell both homered for the Pilots.

River 12, Beallsville 0

SARDIS — Katie Rufener belted three singles, a double and kinocked in three runs as River blanked Beallsville behind a two-hitter by Katie Lively.

Riley Lollathin was a homer short of the cycle for the Pilots, while Moeller tripled, singled and plated two.
