Post 159 debuts with 14-0 victory

NEW MARTINSVILLE — St. Clairsville Post 159 didn’t look, or play, Tuesday night like an American Legion baseball team that was getting together for the first time, literally.

Making its long-awaited season debut due to the magical run the St. Clairsville High School team made to the Division II Final Four, manager Mike Muklewicz’s talented squad posted a 14-0 victory over host New Martinsville.

The winners pounded out 14 hits, led by Baldwin Wallace University freshman Mason Ramsay and Martins Ferry senior-to-be Jacob Probst who both singled and doubled. Ramsay knocked in three runs. Probst had four RBI. Drake Dobson, a recent Martins Ferry grad, singled, doubled and had two runs batted in. Martins Ferry alum Jacob Johnson and recent St. Clairsville grad Matthew Busby each singled twice, with Johnson recording an RBI. St. Clairsville alums Kyle Storer doubled in a run while Jakob Jarvis singled in another.

Ramsay started on the mound, striking out two and walking two before yielding to Luke Jozwiak in the third. The St. Clairsville product picked up the win. He fanned one and walked one before giving way to Bridgeport’s Dylan Gregorcic who pitched the fifth, striking out two. The trio teamed on a two-hitter, both harmless singles.

Post 159 travels to Don Coss Park in Cambridge tonight at 7.
